On 26th April 2022 within the framework of the LIFE LOGOS 4 WATERS project, following the inaugural meeting of the Multi-stakeholder Catchment Forum of the Sárközi I. Main Canal (hereinafter: MCF), the cooperation agreement of the municipalities cooperating on the small water basin was signed by Bátya, Dusnok, Drágszél, Foktő, and Kalocsa.
The municipalities involved in the Sárközi-I. main canal’s small water catchment area has already committed themselves during the elaboration of the tender with a letter of intent in the hope of future cooperation. The project will provide them with the opportunity to implement a complex solution at the catchment level that will work together to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change.
The MCF aims to establish collective decision-making and coordinating body involving stakeholders living and/or working in the catchment area, which will collectively identify and prioritize water-related climate risks, common problems, and possible adaptation measures, and find integrated solutions taking into account the needs of all stakeholders.
It also aims to strengthen the involvement of local stakeholders (municipalities in the catchment area, the competent water management, and licensing authorities, farmers, national parks, NGOs, etc.) and to provide them with the much-needed expertise of the professional organizations that are partners in the project, so that they can make better-informed decisions about the future of their environment and its further development.
